Images of Melancholy is an evocation of the revival of Hermetic philosophy in Elizabethan England, through the music of John Dowland and his contemporaries. The music is interspersed with readings from the Corpus Hermeticum Book 1, on the creation of the world, read by actor John Line.  The English Fantasy Consort of Viols are joined by Lynda Sayce, lute, and Andrew Wilson-Dickson, chamber organ.
